Think Africa Press, in partnership with London's famous Globe Theatre, is delighted to offer free and discounted tickets to Wednesday and Thursday's performances of Two Gentlemen of Verona in Shona. The play, thought to be Shakespeare's first, is being put on by London-based Zimbabwean theatre company Two Gents Productions in Shona as part of the Globe's "Globe to Globe" series of 37 plays in 37 seven languages (see our review of Kiswahili Merry Wives of Windsor).
The production is described as "a two-man Zimbabwean riot of love, friendship and betrayal. From Verona to Milan, via Harare and Bulawayo, two great friends, Valentine and Proteus, vie for the love of the same woman. In a triumphantly energetic ‘township’ style, Denton Chikura and Tonderai Munyevu slip into all of the play’s fifteen characters – from amorous suitors to sullen daughters, depressed servants and even a dog - in this new, specially commissioned translation."
Think Africa Press has secured a limited number of free tickets to tomorrow's 14:30 matinee. To request a free ticket please email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting "Think Africa Press matinee offer".
