Talking Gender in Africa

Are equal numbers of men and women in parliaments important? Do women make for better politicians? How can patriarchy in Africa be combatted? These and other questions were discussed when Think Africa Press met with Alice Nzomukunda (Alliance Démocratique pour le Renouveau, Burundi), Rachel Wambui Shebesh (Orange Democratic Movement, Kenya), Sophia Yilma Deressa (Ethiopian Democratic Party) and Ashura Mustapha (Civic United Front, Tanzania) to talk about gender in Africa.

The four women are all members of the Africa Liberal Network and attended the UK Liberal Democrat Conference 2011 in Birmingham.

This podcast is extracted from an article to be published shortly which also addresses liberalism in Africa and corruption.
