Hundreds of pro-Morsi protestors were killed yesterday when Egyptian security forces stormed the protesters' camps in Cairo. According to official figures, over four hundred people have died, including 43 police officers, but the Muslim Brotherhood has estimated the number dead at over 2,000. The camps had been set up after former president Mohamed Morsi was deposed on 3 July, and the demonstrators had been calling for his reinstatement.
