Interview with Stephen Ellis, Author of "Seasons of Rains: Africa and the World"

Prof Stephen Ellis has been a journalist and worked for Amnesty International before becoming an academic.  His latest book,  Season of Rains: Africa in the World tackles big subjects head-on in trying to provide an analysis of Africa's place in the world. Ellis ranges from analysing Western and African thinking about the continent since independence to the challenges posed by current and future population growth, and recommending policies towards the different states in the continent, all the while disavowing the common binary disater/salvation framing used to view the continent today.
