Alastair Fraser is the Director of Studies for Politics, Psychology, Sociology and International Studies (PPSIS) at Trinity Hall. Alastair is also a member of the Managers' Committee of the Centre of African Studies and the Editorial Working Group of the Review of African Political Economy. In 2007 Alastair co-wrote 'For Whom the Windfalls?', that looks into Zambia's copper mining industry.

The promotion of social and economic agendas by Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), multinational companies and Western aid donors in Africa and the responses, particularly elite responses, to such influences. Grassroots political expression in Southern Africa, and expressions of popular frustrations regarding technocratic modes of governance in the region.
